History in South Carolina. Dr. Annie Andrews has defeated Republican Sen. Darline Graham in the U.S. Senate race, flipping a seat Republicans have held for decades. The pediatrician ran on lowering costs for families and fighting corruption in Washington, and pulled off one of the biggest upsets of election night. Graham was appointed to the seat after her brother, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, died in July. Andrews is also the first woman ever elected to the Senate from South Carolina.
