As I soon wrap up my 4 years at Cape Fear High School, I’ve taken a lot of time to reflect and think about what it has taught me and who I’ve become as a person. I’ve gained and lost more than a 19-year-old should have to bear, but I’ve come to realize that it’s all just a part of life. Someone once told me that everything happens for a reason, and that couldn’t be more true.
We lose, meet, and outgrow so many people in one lifetime, and it all serves a purpose in our journey. If I’m being honest with myself, this is one of the happiest and saddest times of my life. I never thought that when I crossed the stage at graduation, my dad would be absent from the audience — not by choice, but by circumstance. He weighs on my mind a lot, especially during milestones like this.
But with all bad, there is still good. Although I lost my father and cousin within four days of each other, I gained back all of my cousins and my amazing aunt, and for that I am so grateful.
It’s also crazy to think about how for four years we all sat in the same classrooms, walked the same halls, and lived completely different lives without even realizing it. We grew up together, and now we’re all about to go our separate ways and start new chapters of our lives. Some people will stay close, some will drift apart, and some we may never see again, but every person we crossed paths with taught us something along the way.
With all of that being said everything has its reasoning and purpose. I am where I am for a reason. It is all in God’s hands, and he’s got us all.
YOU’RE NEVER ALONE ❤️
