WRITERS! Do you know that almost all TV shows are sold off pitches, not scripts? WHAAA?! That’s right. So we have to write a pitch in order to sell a show. Let’s do it together. Today we’re focusing on the first part of your pitch: the Introduction. In this section you want to answer two questions: “Why me?” and “Why now?” “Why Me?” — why should the network buy this show from you and not any of the other TV writers out there. One of the best hacks to achieve this is start your pitch with a personal anecdote that ties back into the show. “Why Now?” — why should the network buy this show now? What makes it timely? You can do this through the same personal anecdote, or another hack is to use a newspaper article or perhaps a story like yours went viral recently. Make sure your buyer knows that. BOOM, there’s your “why now.” This is a lot of information — hit me with any questions you’ve got below! If you want to share your “why me” or your “why now,” I’ll do my best to take a look at as many as I can get to. And if you find these pitch tips helpful please share share share to spread the word ❤️ #lauramoran #tvwriting #screenwriting #pitch #crashcourse
A final moment for the dress ✨ And a bigger moment for everyone in the room on Friday night, who managed to raise over £96,000 for @kidsinmindcharity. This is one of my favourite events of the year because there’s so much love and generosity in the room and it serves as a reminder that most people have big hearts and good intentions 🤍
