🎥: President Obama's Midnight Visit to Dover Air Force Base | Historical news footage | October 29, 2009 This clip captures President Barack Obama's surprise overnight trip to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware in October 2009, where he witnessed the dignified transfer of remains of 18 Americans killed in Afghanistan that week. The group included U.S. service members and DEA agents, and Obama made the trip just as he was weighing a major decision on sending additional troops to Afghanistan. It was a dramatic, deeply personal moment for a wartime president grappling with the human cost of the conflict. What made it historic was that Obama became the first sitting president to personally attend a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover, something even George W. Bush, who spent considerable time with grieving military families, never did. Only one of the 18 transfers, for Sergeant Dale R. Griffin of Terre Haute, Indiana, was opened to media coverage, done with the explicit permission of his family, after an 18-year media ban on such images had just been lifted. Obama reportedly boarded the C-17 four times that night, standing alone with the remains and an Air Force chaplain between each transfer. #ObamaHistory #DoverAFB #Reels #Explore #ForYourPage

On behalf of friends and family, it is with a heavy heart that we share that our dearest Helen was taken from us too soon. If you knew Helen, you knew how full of life she was. She simply radiated. Helen was talented, creative, and so much fun. She loved to travel and was a gifted ceramic artist. She spent years living abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she met the love of her life, Adam, and started her PR company, Influential PR.  Together, they built a life rooted in family, adventure and love. Helen adored her family. Her happiest place was next to Adam and their two beautiful children, along with their dog Bonnie, who was always by her side (and usually in her lap).  Helen had friends from every chapter of her life: those she grew up with in Houston, her friends from the University of Arizona, and the many people she met during her years abroad and their time in Austin and Aspen.  To know Helen was to love her. The number of people grieving Helen and Adam is a testament to how many people were lucky enough to have them in their lives. Helen embodied a life well lived. She embraced the world, made beautiful things, built lasting relationships, and loved her people fiercely.  Her light was extraordinary, and it will continue to shine through the artwork she made, the legacy she built, and the countless lives she touched.
