During my recent visit to Sri Lanka with @minesadvisorygroup , I had the privilege of meeting Victoria.
When she was 18, she found an interesting object lying on the ground while she was out collecting firewood.
She didn’t know what it was but her curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to open it, and find out what might be inside. Her first instinct was to bite it… nothing happened.
She threw it on the ground and tried to kick it. Again, nothing happened. She lifted it into her lap and sat down to exert some pressure on what she thought was the lid. She pushed her upper hand firmly into the object to try and release it.
And then she woke up in hospital: missing two hands, part of her face and having suffered internal injuries to the area near her heart.
Victoria’s is a remarkable story of resilience and hope.
But her story also shows why this work matters. Landmines and unexploded weapons can remain hidden for decades, putting children at risk as they go about their everyday lives.
The land must be cleared, so that no other child has to face what Victoria did.

Jayda Cheaves drops gems on female independence, being single, and knowing your worth 💎🗣️

Jayda Cheaves kept it all the way real during a recent TikTok livestream, sharing candid advice on relationships and financial independence while doing her makeup. When asked how women should make money today, Jayda urged women to get a job or build their own businesses instead of depending on a man. "What feeds you also could starve you," she warned, noting that while having a partner provide is nice, having your own money means you can stand on your own two feet if things go south.

Addressing comments about her relationship status, Jayda proudly owned being single and thriving, pushing back against the idea that being alone equals loneliness. She stressed that while partnership is great, she refuses to settle just to say she has a boyfriend, declaring that any future connection has to be equally yoked and truly bring happiness.

پرسید: چرا طبیعت؟
گفتم: چیزهای زیادی هست که باعث آرامش جسم میشه،
ولی فقط طبیعته که روح آدم رو نوازش میده
