Tonight I’m laying here on this couch after my nephew’s graduation celebration, and for some reason I don’t want this moment to end.

Everybody’s in the kitchen putting away food. I hear dishes touching the sink. I hear aluminum foil being pulled out to wrap leftovers. I hear little giggles, random conversations, somebody laughing too loud, the dog running around, and my dad being silly. It’s chaos… but it’s a beautiful kind of chaos.

I caught myself just laying here listening, and I realized something…

One day we spend so much of life saying, “Y’all are too loud,” “Calm down,” “Can y’all sit still?” or “I need some peace and quiet.”

But one day, some of those voices won’t be in the room anymore.

One day the dishes won’t be clanking in the sink. The dog won’t be running through the house. The laughs won’t be bouncing off the walls. The kitchen won’t be crowded. The noise we once called annoying will become the silence we wish we could break one more time.

So tonight I’m not asking God for quiet.

I’m praying, “Lord, let this noise continue for as long as You allow it.”

Because this noise isn’t noise at all. It’s love. It’s family. It’s memories being made in real time.

Love the things that annoy you too.

Because sometimes the things that get on your nerves today are the very things your heart will ache for tomorrow. #family #god #love #greatfulheart
