A man named Jebediah becomes completely obsessed with painting the inside of his house the perfect shade of yellow. Not just any yellow—*the yellow*, as he calls it. He spends days mixing paint, arguing with color charts, and dramatically holding swatches up to the wall like he’s judging a royal decree. In his enthusiasm, he forgets he’s wearing his spectacles, which he insists are “enhancing the emotional brightness of the mission,” even though they’re clearly just regular glasses making everything slightly more confusing.

One afternoon, mid-brushstroke, Jebediah steps outside “just for better lighting” and somehow never makes it back inside. Still wearing paint-splattered clothes, yellow-tinted vision, and absolute confidence, he begins walking in what he believes is a “straight line toward destiny,” which unfortunately leads directly to a Pillsbury Factory. He ends up spending the rest of his life there, convinced he’s still improving his house’s interior color scheme while politely complimenting every doughboy-shaped object he sees. Factory staff eventually accept him as a roaming consultant of “advanced yellow theory,” and Jebediah dies happy, believing he successfully painted the entire world one shade brighter.
