Happy 11th birthday, my beautiful girl 🥹🎉 We started this journey just the two of us, and it looks like we’ll finish it just the two of us. I’m so sorry Mommy couldn’t be happier on your birthday. It’s just so hard to celebrate anything without your brother by our side. You’ve always been the strong one though - the quiet, steady one behind the scenes, making sure everything stayed in order. You show a different kind of love. While it’s tough to get snuggles and kisses from you, you’ve always been my shadow. When Bodhi came along and needed more attention because he was always sick, you patiently waited in the background. You jump on the bed as soon as I start brushing my teeth, follow me from room to room watching my every move, and sleep in the kitchen crate while I make dinner. Meanwhile, Bodhi was always front & center, begging for food with his big brown eyes and adorable head tilt. He did the work for you so you didn’t have to, because whenever he got a treat, Momma would walk to wherever you were in the house to make sure you got one too. I carry a little guilt now, knowing you spent so many years in the background while Bodhi needed more care & attention. But you never complained. And now, somehow, you’re the one taking care of me. I saw the extra tail wags yesterday and the smiles I don’t often get to see. For the first time, you walked ahead of me on the trails - a role that always belonged to Bodhi while you stayed behind. You’re stepping up for me, and I promise I’ll step up for you too. We’ll navigate this excruciating pain together and heal one another with time. It broke my heart last night when you chose to lie on Bodhi’s bed instead of coming to bed with me or sleeping in your own bed. Life is so unfair sometimes, and it certainly wasn’t fair to your brother. But we will carry everything he taught us going forward. We’ll put on our happy faces and continue to enjoy all the beautiful things life has to offer despite the pain we carry inside. His greatest gift to us. I love you so much, baby girl, and I hope you get to celebrate many more birthdays by our side. 💜 📸 🙏 @romina.sch for giving us this moment away from our sadness yesterday🫂
