happy world goth day! i am proud to be a part of this subculture and have the freedom to express myself in a way i feel is truly me. 🦇

goth has a deep, interconnected history, and without the groundbreaking contributions of the artists, the musicians, and the activists, goth would not be the giant community that it now is. let us remember those who paved the way for goth to be what it is today. let us especially remember those who have gone unacknowledged, whose influence and cultures have shaped goth as we know it. POC have contributed so much to goth since its origins, and yet they are rarely spoken about, if at all. credit should be given where credit is due, as goth is built upon the foundation of their cultures and identities.

goth is about showing up, celebrating identity without compromise, and embracing the unusual and macabre. goth comes in all kinds, and goth is and always will be for everyone. it will always be a place of love and acceptance, and that is what makes it so special and beautiful. let us continue to learn, grow, and listen to each other, and continue a shared understanding of what it truly means to be goth.
