Whilst we’re all enjoying the sunshine (dogs included ☀️🐾), this is also your friendly reminder that hot weather and dogs can be a dangerous combination.

As temperatures continue to rise, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday this week, please don’t feel pressured to stick to your usual walking routine.

A bored dog is better than a dead dog.

There is absolutely no shame in skipping a walk when conditions aren’t safe. Instead, consider garden time, enrichment activities, frozen treats, training games, or simply letting your dog snooze somewhere cool.

For our clients who are out all day and whose doggos need a midday toilet break, pop-in visits are available and may be a safer alternative than a walk during the hottest parts of the day.

As always, we assess every dog individually. Some cope well with warmer weather and may still enjoy walks in shaded woodland areas with access to running water. Others are far happier and safer waiting until early morning or later in the afternoon when the ground has cooled.

Your dog’s safety will always come first 💛🐶
