i usually let my movement speak for itself, but i wanted to share more because this solo was way more to me than a dance; it was my story.
in september, i started having some joint pain, but i thought it was the usual “back to dance soreness” kind of thing. but as the weeks went on, the pain spread to the rest of my body, making it harder to hold a pencil, walk up the stairs, or dance.
today, about 10 months later, this pain still doesnt have a name and no matter how hard i try to push through it, it leaves me with more pain and exhaustion than i did before. but even with all of this, i am able to move my body and i am so grateful for every second of that, even if it hurts more than it helps.
when being choreographed,
@rachel_bernstein and i had no clue about any of these things and chose the music out of love for the song and
@dermotkennedy . i only did the steps at first, but now i can share my story through it because even through all of the pain, dance has been my outlet. my shelter.
