Fortnite turns 9 next month.
It launched July 25, 2017, back when it was a base building survival game called Save the World, before Battle Royale ever existed. The mode that took over the world did not even arrive until that September.
Nine years, seven chapters, and hundreds of collabs later, it is still one of the biggest games on the planet.
