On Seeing the Sea and Thing
By Ray Tang
This is a photographic zine about preference, attention, and the act of looking.
Originating from a university philosophy assignment, the work began as a simple exercise: to photograph whatever naturally caught the eye, and to consider what those choices might reveal.
Moving from blue to orange, the zine drifts from the sea, open water, and distant light toward art, architecture, and human-made spaces. Through this shift, the images reflect on what we notice, what we return to, and how these quiet preferences shape the way we see the world.
