Years ago, I started sharing my “pockets of peace” online because I wanted people to feel like beauty could exist in everyday life. Today, that journey was featured in The New York Times. Just a week after the premiere of my debut television show, @hostedbynabela… and I am truly, deeply overwhelmed with gratitude. As a daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants, this moment means more than I can express. For a short time, during my parents few small business ventures, we owned a magazine shop. I would help my Baba and brother restock this very newspaper, and retreat back to the register where I’d flip through papers and magazines dreaming of seeing myself in them one day. Fast forward to present day, I’m sharing my profile by @nytimes, printed with a full spread available on news stands nationwide. My heart is bursting, and I can’t stop thinking…I wish Baba was here for this moment.
