In Martin Scorsese’s 1976 concert film The Last Waltz, The Staple Singers, especially Pops and @mavisstaples, delivered some of the film’s most unforgettable moments during “The Weight.”
Although they didn’t perform at the actual Thanksgiving 1976 concert, this version was recorded exclusively for the film and became one of its defining performances.
