ad The flooring that came with the house really hadn’t stood up well to everyday life - after only around three years, the laminate was so scratched and peeling and the original carpets were looking very rough around the edges! When it came to replacing it, I wanted something softer and more comfortable underfoot, but still practical enough for our everyday family life. Just as importantly, I wanted beautiful texture and warm, muted tones that would sit naturally with the rest of the interiors rather than feeling like an afterthought. We chose two different 100% wool carpets from @alternativeflooring. Wool Riverbed Tamar has a chunkier, tactile texture and is made from 100% undyed wool. It’s rated Class 23 Heavy Domestic / Class 32 Medium Contract, so it gave us the softness while still being suited to spaces that get plenty of use. We also used Wool Iconic Herringbone Fonda, a finer 100% wool carpet with a subtle herringbone pattern. I love that it gives a little more pattern and structure while still feeling understated - and being really durable it works for those busier areas such as the staircase and front hallway. The two work really well together - different enough to give each space its own feel, but both have that warm, natural quality I wanted throughout the house. Everything was fitted by @radstockcarpetandbedcentre, our local independent Alternative Flooring retail partner, and they were brilliant throughout the whole process. The fitting was incredibly considered and I’m so pleased with the finish. Such a difference from where we started! #alternativeflooring #walltowallcarpet #wool #sustainable
With AI agents, tech companies are letting consumers automate their everyday tasks by extending their omnivorous style of mass surveillance to massive amounts of sensitive data. It’s the same Faustian tradeoff Silicon Valley has been offering us for decades: your private data in exchange for a little bit of convenience. And for many people, the idea of having a virtual assistant that does menial tasks like filling out invoices and sending emails is compelling — especially if they don’t realize how much data they’re actually giving away in return. “The most important takeaway is that people don’t understand what kind of data they’re handing over,” Galperin told The Verge. “The way that the user interface is set up is designed to encourage you to share as much as possible, often more than you realize, until it’s too late. It’s using dark patterns, and as a result you end up with Muse doing things that people don’t want.” Because of the huge breadth of data AI agents like Muse are ingesting, this also means that users risk leaking not only their own sensitive information, but the information of everyone else they’ve had digital contact with. Florida’s Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon gets more love on TikTok than big-name Democrats. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer gets more grief. And the party itself is taking heat across the political spectrum, from conservatives who say it has gone radical to those on the left who say it isn’t left enough. That is the picture from a Wall Street Journal analysis of thousands of TikTok videos, podcast episodes and political-news programs published or aired since Sept. 1 about 67 Democrats who hold office or want it. While polls show President Trump’s approval is low and Democrats are favored to win the House and in contention to flip the Senate, that doesn’t mean voters are pleased with the Democratic Party. Nixon, the progressive Senate nominee challenging Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, was portrayed favorably in about 70% of the videos that mentioned her, the highest share of the 26 Democrats who appeared in more than 30 videos. Political podcasters liked her the most, too. Cable news didn’t: Of the programs that discussed her, 15% were favorable. Read more at the link in our bio.
