Gagasan ini disampaikan Wakil Menteri Haji dan Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak di Manado, Jumat (30/10), untuk memperkuat toleransi melalui kerja sama dalam pelayanan jemaah. Dalam keterangan resmi Kemenhaj, Dahnil menyebut pelayanan jemaah bisa didukung masyarakat dari berbagai latar belakang agama. “Nantinya, petugas-petugas haji dapat melibatkan saudara-saudara kita dari kalangan Kristen, Katolik, Buddha, Hindu, dan sebagainya,” ujarnya. Menurutnya, sikap saling menghormati bisa diwujudkan lewat kontribusi langsung untuk membantu sesama, termasuk mereka yang akan menjalankan ibadah haji. Namun, gagasan ini belum disertai penjelasan soal jenis tugas, mekanisme perekrutan, maupun waktu penerapannya. Keterangan tersebut juga belum merinci apakah keterlibatan nonmuslim akan terbatas pada pelayanan di Indonesia atau mencakup penugasan ke Arab Saudi.
