🙏🏽💔🎶🕊️ Peabo’s voice was like butter…smooth, rich, effortless, and instantly recognizable. He was one of those rare artists who could sing anything and make it his own. R&B, pop, Broadway, gospel…you name it.

He could put you on the dance floor with his up-tempo songs, take you to church with his smooth golden gospel voice, sing to your soul with a ballad with pure emotion, and then stand toe-to-toe with some of the world’s most powerful female vocalists in duets that became legendary.
Few singers possessed that kind of versatility, range, and grace.

Thank you for the music, the memories, and the masterclass in what true vocal artistry sounds like.

*STATEMENT BY THE MAXI TAXI ASSOCIATION:*

*Dear Members of the Public,*

We write to inform you of a planned three-day rest and reflect period scheduled to commence on June 1st, 2026 through 3rd June 2026. This action is a response to the longstanding neglect and unaddressed issues that have plagued our Maxi Taxi Industry nationwide for decades.
Despite numerous promises made by successive administrations, including the present government, the core concerns affecting our sector remain unresolved:

• PH Drivers. Rapid increase of the illegal white buses currently plying designated “solid band” routes. This issue is also encouraged due to the licensing office registration process for these ‘P’ and ‘T’ vehicles regarding the transportation limit. The checkered band implementation will definitely assist this issue tremendously yet this and other issues are still on a desk awaiting a review, rebut, signature etc. for more than five (5) years.

• Speed limit increase from 65kmh – 80kmh since 2021.

• Policy and guidelines clearly outlining transfers of P.B.R. Passes (Amnesty, Next of Kin, Health restrictions and Open transfers) for more than two (2) decades.

• Hub development, revitalization and management at all the routes for over three (3) decades.

• School Concessionaires contracts and overdue payments. Zones outlined for these same operators especially in the Port of Spain area for this drop-off and pick-up service.

• Thoroughfare access similar to the PTSC Busses via various overpasses.

• N.I.S. Contributions from all self-employed workers, maxi taxi operators included.

• Clear guidelines for legal stipulations governing radio permits in Maxi Taxis.

• Night time access, safe and secure for both commuters and operators across the routes.

• Intra-city Pass processing: requirements requested are not applicable for this service.

While the current government has acknowledged these challenges and pledged solutions, tangible progress has yet to be realized. This period of rest and reflection is intended to draw attention to these critical issues, underscore the urgency for meaningful action, and reaffirm our commitment to advocating for the w

And I’ve got to give props to the one in this reel which is, my personal favorite, Oliver St. John Gogartys right in the heart of Dublin. Known for its lively daily trad music sessions, literary namesake, and its role as a cornerstone of the vibrant Temple Bar cultural district.
