🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT 🚨
Gerson Edgardo Santana Garcia (DOB 11/26/1999), from El Salvador, was arrested by @auroracopd on June 2, 2026, after fleeing officers and crashing at Speer & Federal in Denver.

He was already wanted on:
• Homicide charges (Adams County)
• Felony menacing with a weapon (Adams County)
• Active felony eluding warrant (Arapahoe County)

New charges from this arrest:
🔴 Kidnapping an adult for ransom
🔴 Felony vehicular eluding

This is the same individual involved in the 1/29/25 Aurora shooting and crash at Peña & Green Valley Ranch where shots were fired between vehicles, leading to a police pursuit and crash.

Santana Garcia has 7 cycles of violent felony arrests since January 2025 alone, including 1st-degree assault, Strangulation, False imprisonment (DV), Stolen vehicles, Drugs, and more.

How was this man still free in our community⁉️

Our justice system is failing the citizens. Repeat violent offenders with homicide, assault, kidnapping, and eluding charges are being released back onto our streets …endangering families, drivers, and neighborhoods. This isn’t “reform.” This is reckless neglect.

But with Mayor Mikey’s “Vibrant Denver” not delivering the expected revenue from businesses, residents, and visitors, panic appears to be setting in.The impact on public safety is serious…👮‍♂️ The DPD recruit class originally planned for June 15 has reportedly been pushed to October 14.❌ Rumors suggest all 2027 academy classes could be cancelled, creating a de facto hiring freeze.👋 Due to the last major hiring freeze (2008-2013), DPD faces a massive retirement wave. Within the next 2 years, they could lose 200+ officers (including supervisors, command, and specialists). With roughly 1,500 officers total, that’s around 13% of the force…This is unacceptable. The Mayor’s spending priorities on housing for drug-addicted individuals have left the city unable to reliably fund core public safety. DPD is understaffed, yet this path risks defunding by default.Reopening the raises needs MUTUAL AGREEMENT by the City and unions (DPPA/Local 858), plus City Council approval.A legal team can push with records and pressure, but it only happens if unions and Council say yes.Denverites deserve fiscal responsibility that doesn’t come at the expense of public safety. Me: I think I’ll lay low about turning 40. My family…… 40???? Me????? When did that happen! I still feel 21, but here we are, stepping into my fifth decade. Yesterday was quality time with family, too much cake, endless laughter, and sharing memories from the years gone by.
