Snap Shots in Time-

Each journey in life has a beginning, middle, and end.

Some journeys stay with you always, engrained in your memories and thoughts, becoming a key part of who you are today. I had many choices after high school, and even then they changed according to current situations and circumstances at those times. My original goal as a child was to be a doctor. I was going to be the guy who cured cancer, saving other kids from the fate of my upbringing.

While attending College for PreMed I shifted to the military. The urge and desire to serve my country when 9/11 was undeniable. To closeness I felt to all Americans drove me to be something I never planned on being, and to be the best I could be.

14 years, multiple deployments, relationships built and dissolved, and life long injuries, has gotten me to where I am today.

The struggle with such an investment of time, energy, and personal sacrifice is sometimes hard to leave behind. You feel that as a personal investment in that life, even though that life no longer invests in you. Whether it’s the job, the culture, or people, it’s tough to realize that’s who you used to be, and not who you are now.

Never forgetting the past, but not anchoring your identity in who you used to be allows growth into the next chapter. Invest into those who and what invest in you. Create individuality, be you, not what the masses tell you to be. But be true to who you were, and those still in that fight.
