The family of a great-grandmother who was knocked down and killed by a teenager riding an illegal e-motorbike are calling for her killer’s sentence to be reviewed on the grounds it is unduly lenient.
Billy Stokoe had taken cannabis and was using a mobile phone when he hit 86-year-old Gloria Stephenson on a zebra crossing in Sunderland in 2025, and then rode off leaving her dying at the scene.
The 19-year-old was given a sentence of six years and nine months last month, after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.
