In evolutionary terms, a kid seems pretty normal. Humana been doing that for awhile… cats in the house is quite new really. Only been doing that a handful of generations.

I have a cat vs square footage rule. One cat per 1000square feet. I think 5 cats in a tiny apartment is mean.

Kids are actually less expensive in many ways because of the tax breaks, job protection at work (childless people are treated as disposable), and parental paid leaves, etc. plus. Family gives you stuff and helps out. 1child = one dog. Also children do get old enough to care for themselves. Dogs and cats don’t. And you get charged extra even with a disability. Meanwhile, children under a certain age travel for free.

If everyone just had 4 cats instead of 1 kid, we would no longer have a functioning society in 1 generation
