Meet the artist behind the sculpture with Singer’s bones.
For months, Vashon artist Ela Lamblin has worked tirelessly to bring Singer to life—not only articulating the whale’s skeleton with remarkable accuracy, but creating a sculpture that conveys the sheer scale, grace, and power of this magnificent creature.
As a renowned kinetic sculptor, musician, and fabricator, Ela is known for creating large-scale works that move, sing, and invite interaction. A Vashon resident, his work blends sculpture, engineering, and performance, pushing the boundaries between art and experience. Ela has spent decades creating kinetic and musical sculptures, public artworks, and immersive installations that inspire wonder and connection.
For Singer, Ela collaborated with an incredible team of engineers, fabricators, and problem-solvers to make the impossible possible—including a beautifully mechanized tail that will move in a graceful swimming motion, bringing this giant to life in a whole new way.
Installation is happening this week, and we can’t wait to share it with you. While the exhibit is not yet open to the public, come celebrate this extraordinary achievement at our Birthday Bash.
Join us as we honor the artistry, ingenuity, and community effort behind Singer—and the visionary artist who helped make it happen.
