A message from London!
Life is crazy sometimes, man. Little reminder that my LA Times feature is out. Big thanks to @kailynhype for writing this piece. Photo by Jason Armond.
🔥 PULL-UPS VS. LAT PULLDOWNS: WHICH IS BETTER FOR BACK GROWTH? You don’t have to choose just one: each exercise has a different purpose. 💪 🏋️ PULL-UPS You lift your own bodyweight, developing strength, coordination, and body control. Your lats, biceps, forearms, and core all work together. Pull-ups are an excellent choice for overall back strength and muscle growth. 💪 LAT PULLDOWN Your body is more stable, making it easier to focus on your lats and control every rep. You can adjust the weight, change the tempo, pause at the bottom, and add more training volume. But remember: feeling a muscle more doesn’t automatically mean it will grow faster. ⚠️ THE QUALITY OF THE MACHINE MATTERS TOO! Even perfect technique and a great program won’t help much if the machine is poorly designed: the cable feels rough, the movement path is unnatural, or the seat doesn’t fit your body. Sometimes a reliable old pulldown machine that works perfectly gets replaced with a brand-new piece of junk simply because it looks more modern. As a result, the exercise feels completely different. A good machine should have a smooth cable system, a natural movement path, comfortable positioning, and sound biomechanics. NEW DOESN’T MEAN BETTER. WHAT MATTERS IS HOW THE MACHINE WORKS, NOT HOW IT LOOKS!🔥 Has your gym ever replaced a great machine with a new one that feels worse?
