It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Coach Erwin Dill: an incredible mentor, leader, role model, and friend.

Today, Bethpage Athletics mourns the loss of a truly special Football and Lacrosse coach who dedicated more than 30 years to building championship programs and shaping the lives of countless student athletes.
A Bethpage graduate and fierce competitor, Coach Dill began his career as an assistant football coach under the legendary Howie Vogts and also served as an assistant for the boys’ lacrosse team. He was part of the coaching staff for the 1996 State Championship lacrosse team, a remarkable group that saw 12 players go on to compete at the NCAA Division I level.
Coach Dill later became the head coach of the lacrosse program, leading it with passion and pride until 2014. In 2010, following the passing of Coach Vogts, he stepped in as head coach of the football team, guiding the program to multiple championships. He continued coaching until 2018, when he stepped away after being diagnosed with cancer.
Known for inspiring and empowering his players both on and off the field, Coach Dill’s impact went far beyond wins and titles. He will be remembered most for his genuine care, compassion, and the lasting relationships he built. He truly embodied everything it means to be a Golden Eagle.
Coach Dill’s legacy will forever be a part of Bethpage Athletics and the many lives he touched. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, former players, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Coach Dill, thank you. Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle. Rest in peace.

He was a teammate of mine at Gettysburg. I could tell then that he was destined to coach. A terrific teammate, good friend, fantastic coach but a better man. He literally mentored hundreds of student athletes.

Sorry. Coach Dill started as a PLAYER on these fields, where our children play. He is a GOLDEN EAGLE graduate and showed his dedication and pride in every single way he could, because THAT was his priority . He is and was someone I PRAY my child tries to emulate . 💙💛🦅
