The Public Theater

Don’t miss a FREE Public Forum of Amy Sherald’s AMERICAN SUBLIME: STORIES FROM ELSEWHERE IN III ACTS at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park on June 22 at 8PM!

Experience an in-progress theatrical exploration inspired by artist Amy Sherald’s acclaimed body of work, originally exhibited as American Sublime at major US museums, is now taking shape for the stage. The exciting evening will feature live performance, reflecting on the creative process and the evolution of Sherald’s work for the stage.

“American Sublime began, unexpectedly, somewhere between Big Fish and Alice in Wonderland. In a world where scale shifts, stories bend, and reality becomes elastic, I was drawn to characters who move through America like myths or apparitions, figures who are caught between performance, memory, fantasy, and everyday life.

At the Delacorte Theater, under an open sky and among strangers gathered together, these excerpts become part dream, part theater, and part collective encounter.” —Amy Sherald, Artist
