Dapper Dan’s designs became the blueprint for what we now call luxury streetwear. The same fashion world that once shut his shop down eventually came back to celebrate him. In 2017, Gucci partnered with Dapper Dan, and in 2018 a Gucci-backed atelier opened in Harlem, recognizing the influence he had on fashion all along.
Dapper Dan’s original shop was open 24 hours a day because many of his clients were entertainers, athletes, and people coming from clubs or events who wanted custom pieces immediately.
