With FIFA getting the Scotts to go down Boston cop slide, I’m reminded of back in March ending my PAX East trip before getting on my plane by going down the slide. Not enough clips of people being humbled, so it’s the sacrifice I’m willing to make. #bostoncopslide #copslide

It is with a heavy heart but much gratitude that after 12 years in Richmond’s Union Hill neighborhood, Metzger will be closing its doors on December 19th. I’m sure it’s no surprise to other small business owners, but this year has been the nail in the coffin for us after years of changes and hardships post Covid. I opened Metzger with partners in June of 2014. She was my first business, first love, first really hard thing I ever did. I received my first James Beard nomination here and worked among SO MANY talented cooks and servers and bartenders in these walls it’s truly astounding. (Go to pretty much any restaurant in Richmond and you are bound to find a Metzger alumni somewhere in the kitchen or on the floor.) I learned so very much working and cooking here- not only from the mishaps and daily struggles of a restaurant, but from the amazing people I got to work with and serve in this space. I am stronger and a better person now because of it. Please join us in these last few months at Metzger and help us end our run on a high note. The team right now is stellar and they would love to cook for you before we say goodnight ❤️ Thank you Richmond! We have loved being a part of this restaurant community!

LOVESICK + ‘Heartless’ music video out now !! 🏹🤍 I want to say a huge thank you to the team I made this music video with. It’s inspired by one of my favourite films, Romeo + Juliet (Baz Luhrmann 1996). It’s a one-taker shot on 16mm taking you through the entire story. This was definitely not an easy concept, especially since we had limited time or budget to pull it off. I am truly amazed by the love and passion poured into this project and feel so lucky to get to work with these incredibly talented (!!) and wonderful people. I couldn’t be more happy with the result and I’m so proud to have made this with this team. Go watch the video!!! When I saw @theisabelbrown post about the way some women online are bragging about ab*rting their baby boys (or posting things like, “Time to find out whether it’s a girl or an ab*rtion”), I was gutted but not surprised. I’ve been on the internet long enough to watch the predominantly female narrative surrounding gender swing from rumblings about “male incompetence” or public figures apologetically “acknowledging the complexity” of raising males (as if they’re inherently defective) to such a fever-pitched extreme that women frequently admit to “hating all men” with the exception of their own husbands (if that)—and are supported by thousands of comments. Someone is sure to say that, if this many women think this way, then there must be something to it. The truth is, as heartbreaking as it is to imagine even a single woman m*rdering her own baby son in her womb, this is not how most women see men. Social contagion is real. The loudest, man-hating feminist voices on TikTok are not representative of the majority. And we have a very real opportunity to tell the truth about men. And the truth is: They’re made in God’s image, have inherent value as such, possess incredible character traits, skills, initiative, and compassion. They fight, build, protect, strive, grow, and sacrifice. They’re essential to every culture (and not just bc those m*rdered baby boys wouldn’t have existed without their fathers’ contribution). Are there evil men? Of course. There are evil women too. (The ones who brag about killing their sons prove this.) “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 But there are *so many* good ones who love well and work hard. They have been the overwhelmingly vast majority of my own experience with men in my life. Sadly, flowing right alongside an epidemic of angry, vindictive women who hate men is a rising tide of disenfranchised, undiscipled young men who could very well grow into that which the loudest negative voices claim they are. We must stand in the gap to ensure this doesn’t happen. Moms of boys: It’s time to raise godly men like it’s our jobs. Because it is.
