Nine years ago today, I met this amazing angel, Maddie. ❤️ Her mom wrote me today because she knew Maddie would never have let our “friendiversary” go by without acknowledging it, and she didn’t want today to pass without doing that for her. I didn’t just hear from Maddie on special occasions. She wrote me, called me, or sent me a video mostly every single day from the day we met. Today would have been no different. I know there would have been a message, a call, or some video from her that somehow would have turned a very trying day into a much better one. Although most of you never had the chance to meet Maddie, she became very much a part of my life. She was extraordinary. She inspired so many people, not because of what she faced, but because of how she chose to live her life. She lived fully, she loved deeply, she laughed, she dreamed, and she never allowed SMA to define who she was. This picture is from the day we met nine years ago on the set of Kevin Can Wait. Her mom reminded me today just how much that day meant to Maddie. What I wish I could tell her today again, is how much knowing her meant to me. She left an imprint on my life that will always be there. Maddie lived with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), and although we lost her far too soon, I know she would want us to continue supporting the causes that mattered to her and helping others living with SMA. So on our 9-year friendiversary, I hope you’ll take a moment to learn about or support Cure SMA and help keep Maddie’s cause and her incredible spirit moving forward. Happy Friendiversary, Maddie. ❤️ I miss your calls, your messages, your videos, and most of all, I miss you. For you, cutie. Always. 💗 CureSMA.org #CureSMA #SMAAwareness #SpinalMuscularAtrophy
