It took a 1911 earthquake, a massive landslide, and an icy mountain flood to create this. Now, these spruce trees are perfectly preserved under the glacial water of Lake Kaindy.

“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And weak men create hard times.”

For eighty years, the West lived in the good times. The generation that survived war, rationing and ruins built the most peaceful, prosperous civilization in history and handed it to their children.

Those children grew up to lead it: Macron, Merkel, Trudeau, Biden, Starmer. They never knew real danger, so they never learned what it takes to keep it away. They talked about the hard problems and avoided the hard choices, and they always picked the applause over the decision.

🗽 I created Basic Optimism to bring common sense back to the West. If you want to support this work, the Buy Me a Coffee link is in bio. Thank you for reading.$
