This week the pendulum has swung from big work days to big moments of fun. I had a decade of denying myself of fun. It didn’t feel safe. I assumed that if I slipped off my path of discipline my whole world would fall apart. OCD took over parts of my life which made it hard to let go. But in my mid forties I’m allowing myself some fun. I still have a twinge of worry here and there but it feels a lot more balanced now. The self optimisation chat I often hear seems to be based purely on the aim of becoming the perfect, flawless optimised human who never veers off the track of self improvement. Sounds fucking boring to me. I also believe that we learn and grow the most after messy, challenging parts of life, not the ones where we are militant in how we live. Here’s to letting the messy bits of you free.
Happy humpday, fam! Lots of color today to make up for the lack thereof on Monday 😉 The fall colors here aren’t super spectacular this year, but this one little corner of my backyard was looking pretty great this weekend. Typically I would have opted for more autumnal attire for such a shoot, but we had high temps of 90F here both Saturday and Sunday - extremely unseasonably warm! Anyway, whatever color you think this #seiko SRPK33 (which I put back on its bracelet for the first time in ages) is, I’m hoping we can agree it’s a nice contrast to the foliage 😁Have a great Wednesday #watchfam 🙌
Toronto. I’m here to visit the amazing boutique TNT. A family run business. They took me last night to an incredible dinner. I was tired, didn’t think I wanted to go- but I’m so grateful I did. Had dinner at a place that was just so defiantly independent. Everything spoke to the owner at his core. It felt very rare and precious and something you want to protect. It’s called Joso’s. I’ll do a proper story on them. Heartwarming and delicious.
