Usher and Chris Brown have canceled four upcoming concerts on their joint R&B Tour, just weeks before Brown is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom for sentencing.

The cancellations were announced Friday (Oct. 9), affecting performances in Baltimore (Oct. 17), Cincinnati (Oct. 24), Columbia, South Carolina (Oct. 29), and Indianapolis (Oct. 31). According to a statement from the tour’s promoter, the decision was made to prioritize the health and well-being of the artists and touring crew following an extensive run of sold-out stadium performances.

The promoter explained:

“The demands of a tour of this length and scale are significant, and these adjustments will allow the tour to continue safely and sustainably through the remaining scheduled performances.”

The cancellations also come as Brown prepares for sentencing in the United Kingdom on Oct. 26. The singer pleaded guilty in July to affray, a charge stemming from a 2023 nightclub incident in London involving music producer Abe Diaw. Brown faces a potential prison sentence of up to three years and is required to return to the UK by Oct. 25. However, tour organizers have not confirmed that his legal situation played a role in the cancellations.

Despite the canceled shows, the tour is expected to continue, with a performance scheduled for Oct. 15 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey before resuming Nov. 5 in Atlanta. Fans affected by the cancellations are expected to receive automatic refunds within 14 to 21 days.
