There are some things in life we have to grieve that we never actually had. The marriage we thought we’d have by now. The children we hoped for. The career opportunity that didn’t come. The version of life we imagined we’d be living at this age. And sometimes that grief is hard to explain because nothing was necessarily taken from us. It’s simply that something we deeply wanted never happened. In this conversation with @anniefdowns , we talked about the importance of making room to grieve the life you thought you’d have. Because you can be grateful for the life God has given you and still feel sadness over the things you hoped would be part of it. Both can be true. And sometimes moving forward doesn’t begin with telling yourself to get over it. It begins with giving yourself permission to acknowledge what you’ve lost, even if that loss was a dream that never became reality. You don’t have to pretend it didn’t matter in order to trust God with what comes next. We talked more about navigating grief, unmet expectations, and trusting God when life looks different than we imagined on the podcast. A court in Meerut on Wednesday, October 14, sentenced Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla to death in connection with the death of Rastogi’s husband, Saurabh Rajput. His dismembered body was found concealed in a blue drum filled with cement at their home in March 2025. “Both have been sentenced to death for the crime,” advocate Krishan Kumar Dubey reportedly said. The sentencing follows the court’s decision to convict the duo last month. District Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra delivered the verdict after 126 hearings and statements from 22 witnesses. According to the prosecution, Rastogi and Shukla conspired against Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer, on March 3, 2025. Police said his body was dismembered and the remains concealed inside a blue industrial drum using cement and sand. The duo was arrested following an investigation, during which police recovered the drum containing Rajput’s remains. During the trial, the prosecution presented circumstantial, technical and physical evidence against the accused. Local shopkeepers testified that they had sold a blue plastic drum, cement bags, sand, cleavers and razors to Rastogi and Shukla before the incident.
