I HEAL DIFFERENTLY. ❤️‍🩹🕊️💈 October 11th, I walked through the gates of San Quentin Rehabilitation Center with a purpose much bigger than myself. I’ve walked through those gates before, but only as far as the visiting rooms. Never did I imagine I’d be walking through that facility helping bring a barber battle to life for the men inside. From the planning, floor plans, cutting, laminating, coordinating, and making sure every detail came together, I poured my heart into this. People see the finished product, but they don’t always see the work it takes to get there. Being a woman in this industry, I’m constantly pushing myself to make my mark. I’m passionate, I’m direct, and I stand on business when it comes to my work. I’ve realized I don’t need the spotlight. I just want the hustle, dedication, and heart behind my work to be respected. But what people don’t see is the pain I carry behind my smile. Walking through those walls was hard AF. I wanted to cry so many times, but I had a job to do. A big part of why I do this work is because it makes me feel closer to my brother. ❤️ I know what it’s like to be the family on the other side of those walls. I know what it’s like to miss someone who’s still alive. And that’s why I show up for people with so much heart. Because behind every incarcerated person is a family with a story, too. I keep myself busy, I turn my pain into purpose, and I continue putting myself in spaces that challenge me emotionally because I know the work matters. I do this for the people. I do this for my brother. I do this for the little girl I once was. This was never just a barber battle. This was personal. This was healing. This was LOVE. ❤️‍🩹 Sometimes the strongest people are the ones showing up for everybody else while silently carrying their own pain. 🕊️
Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night for nine weeks, eight musicians and two backup dancers join Harry Styles on stage to perform a two-hour show at the most famous arena in the world, Madison Square Garden. Among them is Laura Bibbs, a 29-year-old trumpet player and composer who not only supports Styles’ band, but sings a moving rendition of his hit “Sweet Creature” midway through the show. After seeing the show, we were blown away by her incredible talent—and also, her incredible curls. Of course, we had to find out all of the details. Head to the link in bio to read our interview with Bibbs and see her exclusive photo diary from the day of Styles’ October 7 show. Photos: Anthony Pham, Laura Bibbs
The U.S. military has developed strike plans that include potentially using the GBU-43B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb, known as the “mother of all bombs,” against Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites, according to multiple U.S. officials who spoke to CNN. It would be the first use of the weapon in the Iran war. No order has been given and the plans are options should President Trump order combat to resume, before or after the midterms. The MOAB is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the U.S. arsenal. It weighs 21,600 pounds, is GPS guided and explodes above ground for a wide blast. One source said Trump ordered strike packages including “a lot of energy infrastructure” and a potential MOAB, worded as coming “prior to US retrograde in CENTCOM AOR,” a military term for withdrawing forces. A second source said plans for nuclear sites, including Pickaxe Mountain, explicitly call for it. CNN says the U.S. and Israel believe Iran stored nuclear program components there. The White House said it does not comment on sensitive military plans that “may or may not exist” and that Trump “keeps all options on the table.” The Pentagon said it plans for a wide range of scenarios. The U.S. last used the MOAB in 2017 against ISIS tunnels in Afghanistan. Afghan officials said it killed 36 fighters.
