🇿🇦 CONGRATULATIONS, TEAM SOUTH AFRICA! 🇿🇦
Before the World Schools Debating Championship begins, we take one final look back at an incredible Pre-WSDC campaign in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Our Team South Africa WSDC concluded the tournament with an impressive 7th-place break into the Open Quarter-Finals, where they faced Team India WSDC in what proved to be a preview of the official World Championship draw. After meeting in a preparation showdown, the two nations would clash once again in the Open Break, with the 4th-ranked Team India White overcoming the 5th-ranked Team South Africa Protea.
Meanwhile, in the Non-WSDC Break, Team South Africa Bokke showcased the incredible depth of South African debating. After an outstanding run to the final, they defeated Team Kenya B to be crowned 2026 Pre-WSDC Non-WSDC Break Champions! 🏆🇿🇦
Individual Speaker Rankings
🥉 4th Overall: Kimiya Ghaheri (South Africa Proteas)
🏅 5th Overall: Adrian Etzinger (South Africa Proteas)
This recap captures the preparation, resilience, friendships, and unforgettable moments that defined our journey in Tanzania—an experience that has laid the foundation for what comes next.
To every debater, coach, adjudicator, parent, supporter, and organiser: thank you for flying the South African flag with excellence, resilience, and pride.
The preparation is complete. The stage is set.
It’s now time for Team South Africa WSDC to carry the hopes of more than 61 million South Africans onto the world’s biggest debating stage.
One flag. One nation. One purpose.
NO DNA. JUST RSA. 🇿🇦
