Education reform activist Sonam Wangchuk has entered the 20th day of his indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. He began the fast on June 28, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak. Doctors have warned that Wangchuk has reached the critical stage of prolonged fasting, while CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke claimed he is now “on his deathbed.”
Several musicians, including Encore ABJ of Seedhe Maut, Raman Negi, Parvaaz, Raga, Bloodywood’s Karan Katiyar, Vishal Dadlani, Artist Collective and events agency Spitdope Inc., Pho and Yashraj among others, have voiced their support for Wangchuk, while singer Kaka visited the protest site. More than 1,800 artists, writers and academics, including Arundhati Roy and Naseeruddin Shah, have also backed the protest’s demands, with the Cockroach Janta Party set to march to Parliament on July 20.
