The Odyssey 🌊📖🏛️ lost between the pages
I prepped like a nerd for this movie. I read The Iliad earlier this year and now this. (Most people don’t know this about me but I’m a huge bookworm. I love to read!!)
It’s been years since I last touched Homer in school… pretty sure it was the Lattimore translation back then.
This time, I read Emily Wilson’s version. Her translation is sharp, modern and clear. It makes the story feel more poetically human and far less stuffy.
If anyone was going to turn this classic into a movie, it HAD to be Christopher Nolan!!! 🎬
That said, seeing the Charybdis and Scylla sea monsters on an IMAX screen? I’m not ready. 😭👀
🍿Who’s watching @theodysseymovie this weekend??

This is a book I will be going for when I take a next trip to Barnes and noble. But I like the Iliad. Basically Achilles story.

So I wrote my own poems as a 25 day countdown to opening day. Seeing the movie this afternoon. Be cool to get your perspective after reading Wilson’s translation and seeing the movie. Bookworm to bookworm!

I'm boycotting this film because Christopher Nolan did not choose you to play Helen Of Troy!!
