Charlie’s Angels just turned 50! But did you know that Lynda Carter once auditioned to become one of Charlie’s Angels?
Over the years, many actresses auditioned to join the iconic trio. Most, thankfully, didn’t make the cut—but a few could have made incredible Angels.
The series, created by Aaron Spelling, was originally designed as a vehicle for Kate Jackson, who was the first actress cast. Initially set to play Kelly Garrett, she ultimately chose the role of Sabrina Duncan instead. Farrah Fawcett was soon brought on board to play the sporty Jill Munroe, leaving the role of the third Angel wide open.
Several talented actresses reportedly auditioned for that original third spot, including Veronica Hamel, Suzanne Somers, Loni Anderson, Catherine Bach, Susie Coelho, and even… Lynda Carter! At the time, Lynda had already filmed the Wonder Woman pilot, which had recently aired on television. Because she was under contract, she ultimately wasn’t available for Charlie’s Angels. Looking back years later, Lynda had no regrets, famously saying, “There’s only one Wonder Woman!”—a fun little nod to the three Charlie’s Angels. 😉
