🌟 June is Deafblindness Awareness Month 🌟
When people hear the word deafblindness, they often think of Helen Keller—a remarkable woman who changed the world’s understanding of what is possible.
But deafblindness is more than a story from history. Today, thousands of children and adults live with combined vision and hearing loss, facing unique challenges in communication, learning, mobility, and access to information.
Research consistently shows that early identification and early intervention are critical.
When children who are deafblind receive timely support, specialized communication strategies, family-centered intervention, and access to qualified professionals, they can develop stronger language, social-emotional skills, independence, and meaningful connections with others.
Families are often the first and most important teachers. With the right support, expectations, and resources, children who are deafblind can thrive and reach their full potential.
As we celebrate Deafblindness Awareness Month, let us honor Helen Keller’s legacy by advocating for early intervention, accessible services, and a world where every child has the opportunity to communicate, learn, and belong.
We at Faranak Foundation advocate for Family-Centred Early Intervention.
💙 Awareness leads to understanding.
💚 Understanding leads to inclusion.
💛 Inclusion creates opportunity.
