When I first started this piece, she looked a little too much like a certain celebrity, so I scrapped it and started over.

The second attempt was beautiful.

But beautiful wasn’t enough.

It wasn’t carrying the weight of the story I wanted to tell. It didn’t have the tension I look for in my work.

So I trusted the process… even when it looked a little crazy.

This time, though…

I think I got it.
