WOW 😍

A show of the Northern Lights coincided with clear skies to give most areas of the UK a stunning celestial display show on Saturday night.

The aurora was a result of a coronal mass ejection on the Sun last week which directed a stream of charged particles towards the Earth. As this interacted with oxygen and nitrogen in our atmosphere, photons of coloured light were emitted.

The resulting display, seen from Shetland to Kent, was captured by our BBC WeatherWatchers. According to the Met Office further sightings could be possible until Tuesday...clear skies permitting.

Did you manage to see them too?
