El Salvador is increasing its military presence in Haiti as the search continues for four Salvadoran military personnel who disappeared following a gang attack earlier this month.

On Wednesday, October 28, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele spoke by phone with Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé about the ongoing rescue operation and security cooperation between the two countries.

According to El Salvador's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country is carrying out a large-scale military deployment involving more than 2,000 soldiers to help locate the missing men and support operations against armed gangs in Haiti.

The four Salvadorans, identified as aviation technicians, went missing on October 18 after armed gangs attacked their armored vehicle in the Croix-des-Bouquets area, outside Port-au-Prince. Although they reportedly escaped the burning vehicle, contact with them was lost.

The announcement comes just one day after Le Nouvelliste reported that 690 additional Salvadoran soldiers had arrived in Haiti, bringing the total to approximately 1,300. The latest statement from El Salvador's government now places the broader deployment at more than 2,000 troops, although it does not specify how many have already arrived.

Haiti's government also confirmed the conversation between Bukele and Fils-Aimé. Both leaders discussed strengthening cooperation to find the missing personnel and address the country's ongoing security crisis.

Bukele reaffirmed El Salvador's commitment to supporting Haiti's fight against armed gangs. However, the four missing Salvadorans have not been confirmed rescued, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The growing military presence comes as Haiti continues struggling with gang violence, with many communities still waiting for lasting improvements in security.

NEPHEW, LET ME TELL YOU HOW I USED TO THINK IN MY HUSTLING DAYS.

I used to give my drivers permission to tell on me if they got caught.

My reasoning was simple: I figured if they got caught, they were probably going to talk anyway. So instead of pretending otherwise, I wanted them operating without that additional fear.

I even had a dummy phone number they could call. In my mind, if that phone rang, I knew everything had gone bad.

I also kept money set aside for bail and attorneys. I believed in preparing for the worst instead of hoping for the best.

I had layers upon layers of contingency plans. At the time, I thought I was being sophisticated. I thought I was managing risk.

But here’s what I want you to understand, nephew.

You can be intelligent, disciplined, organized, and still be making a fundamentally foolish decision.

All that preparation didn’t change the consequences of the life I was living.

Today, I apply that same forward thinking to legitimate business, my career, and protecting my family.

The greatest move I ever made wasn’t learning how to manage the risks of the streets. It was learning to leave those risks behind.

Learn from my experiences. You don’t have to repeat them.

It’s my birthday!!! 🩷🎀💕 My first birthday without my dad, which is something I still can’t quite believe I’m having to say. This has undoubtedly been one of the hardest years of my life, and one I never imagined I’d have to navigate at 27. But today I had the most amazing day in Switzerland with my beautiful mummy, celebrating life, laughing, loving and making memories. 🩷 If this year has taught me anything, it’s that life is unbelievably short and the only thing we really have is the present moment. Something I’m working VERY hard on because, as a Scorpio, I love nothing more than overthinking the past and fantasising about the future. 😂💕 Going into this new chapter, I’m making myself one promise: to live more in the present, love harder, dream bigger and put every ounce of my faith in God. I know my dad would be cheering me on, telling me to keep going and, most importantly, to make it BIGGER. 🩷 Thank you to every single person who has shown me so much love over these last few months and for all the beautiful birthday messages today. It never goes unnoticed, and I’m more grateful than you’ll ever know. So here’s your reminder to hug your people a little tighter, tell them you love them and chase your bloody dreams. Life is far too short not to. 🩷 Here’s to another year of living, loving, laughing and making every second count. Love you forever, Dad. I hope I’m making you proud. 🩷💕
