Isla sent me the sweetest message along with some pages from her nature diary inspired by Diary of a Nature Nerd. I was blown away.
Isla and I went on to chat about her brilliant naming convention for animals which is based on observed behavior or characteristics. Oak Star got her name because she was eating star-shaped oak leaves. Moss Horn had fuzzy mossy horns. And Pixie’s tail looked sparkly. Isla has inspired me to get more creative when I’m nicknaming animals.
Also, I had no idea that gray foxes are great tree-climbers. Great fun fact! I love how observing an animal in the wild often leads to research and discovery.
