An injury update on Raul Jimenez, who will undergo knee surgery on Friday and is expected to be out of action until January.

Wishing you the best for your recovery, Raul! 💪

Wolves director of performance Phil Hayward:
“Raul injured his left MCL against Everton, which was four weeks ago now and unfortunately the injury has not responded as we expected, so we've decided that the best thing is to have surgery to repair that ligament. Normally the ligament for a fairly low-grade injury would heal on its own, however this has not responded as we were expecting, after regularly scanning for the last three weeks, the ligament is not healing in the anticipated way. We've consulted with several knee specialists and decided the best course of action is to move to surgery to ensure that we are back in control of the time frames and have a clear idea of when he will be back.

“There is a danger that we can keep waiting for things to improve by treating the knee conservatively (without surgery) but if that doesn't happen, then at that stage we need to have surgery and waste more time. So, he'll have the surgery on Friday in London, and then he'll have around three months of rehabilitation before he's ready to play again. It’s obviously really disappointing for all of us, but we need to look forward, get the surgery done and start the rehab process as soon as we can to get him back on the pitch helping the team as quickly as we can.

“He's obviously really disappointed, as we all are. We all hoped that after the initial scans he would have been back pretty quickly, but unfortunately it's not responding at all. He's disappointed, but he's also happy that we've now got a plan in place with real clarity. We can build around that and make sure that we're getting him back in the time frame.”

1/ The young woman behind Lagos Life, the phenomenal game that attracted over 2 million players in its first few days, began her tech journey in our unassuming training room in Aba, Abia State.

reactant_ / Tit0k

Her name is Shalom. This is her story and ours.

🧵 A thread.

2/ April 30, 2018. LearnFactory opened its doors to young people for a free six-month software internship in Aba. No tuition. No catch.

Twenty young people came from across Nigeria. Twelve completed the programme.

The youngest of them all was a girl who had just finished secondary school.

3/ We called her “the last baby.”

Life was not gentle with her at the time. She was carrying more than any girl her age should have had to bear.

But she never used her circumstances as an excuse. She focused on the programme and gave it everything she had.

4/ Day in, day out, she showed up. She took on the 100 Days of Code challenge without flinching. She asked questions until there were no more answers, then went looking for more.

She was like my little daughter in that room, and I watched her refuse to quit.

5/ October 2018 — the internship ended. Her journey didn't.

She continued teaching herself, took on small jobs, wrote a book, landed remote work, and earned a UK Global Talent visa in 2023.

Then, on October 1, 2026, she built Lagos Life overnight and tweeted the link at 7 a.m.

By 10 a.m., it was trending.

6/ Over 2 million players in days. Brands buying billboards inside a virtual Lagos. An entire country debating rent inside a game.

Built by a young woman who started in Aba with hunger, determination, and a place that gave her the opportunity to learn.

That last part is why I'm writing this.
