In a world full of hate, be the reason someone still believes in kindness. 🫶🏼 Over the last few days, I’ve received a large number of hurtful messages from online trolls. I’ve shared just 5 of them here. I’m not sharing these for anyone to pity me. I can handle the internet and the trolls. I’ve done it for years. I’m sharing them as a reminder to think before being a keyboard warrior, and to shut it down when you see it. I was raised to be kind and to stand strong, and to treat people with respect, especially when it’s hard. I was also taught that bullying and harassment are never okay. Not in person, and not from behind a screen. A lot of times, people jump to conclusions without knowing the full truth of the matter. It’s easy to send something cruel to someone you’ve never met. It’s harder to pause, ask questions, and remember there’s a real person on the other side. Not everyone has thick skin, and words like these can hit someone on their worst day. This isn’t just about me. Online hate directed at any group or any individual is unacceptable, no matter who they are, what they believe, or who they love. Everyone deserves to feel safe online. Change starts with each of us. Before you type, pause. When you see cruelty, call it out. When you see someone being torn down, lift them up. Kindness spreads just as fast as hate does, so let’s choose which one we put out into the world. Start with yourself.
Everyone needs to try this!
