I’d recommend the right set up, like a heavy casing rod instead of a soft tipped spinning rod, can’t get a hookset if your rods too limber

If you set hook to the left you would've had a better chance, and if you had a baitcasting setup you hooksets will be stronger

get a bait caster , would help you with better hook sets on those lures . either gon work but it’ll help for sure

Are you bending your hooks open a little? My hookup ratio was probably 20% tops until I started bending the hooks out a little from how they come out of the package, and then it went up significantly.

Don’t set the hook to the side when using a frog! Set it vertically over your left shoulder as hard as you can. Keep the rod tip up and never stop reeling keep that drag locked down!
