“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
This chapter of my life is officially closed. I have always wanted to be the best at what I do. I started track in 8th grade, and from there, I developed a passion for learning how to be the best version of myself. Over the last five years, track has taught me patience, how to handle pressure, and how to accept a loss and manage my emotions. I’ve grown so much since 8th grade. I still feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface of my potential as a track athlete. One thing I hope my high school track career has done is inspire and motivate others to work hard and push through any obstacles. I aspire to be a role model and a leader to those around me. Perhaps in another life, I could have achieved all my goals in high school, but I trust that this is God’s plan for me. I will continue to work hard and strive for greatness.
I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many amazing people through my track career. I’ve formed friendships that will last a lifetime through this sport. Thank you to my teammates for helping me get through practices and for being there for me.
A special thank you to @action_wallace and @roguetcva for believing in me. When I was at my lowest, you both helped lift me back up. You have made me not only a better athlete but also a better person. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to know both of you. My family and I truly appreciate all of your support.
Last year, I discovered who my track coach really is, and it became evident at the nationals meet. My coach wasn’t taking anyone to nationals, which was frustrating. I still went to nationals with a different school because I wanted to compete. Then I found out that my coach took one of my teammates to nationals. I ended up running the mixed 4x4 because another runner backed out, and I stepped up to fill the gap. We ran well and finished third as a public school, but then we were disqualified because my high school coach informed another coach that I didn’t o
