Before you start throwing stones at me and asking what on earth I’m doing somewhere in Asia while the war in Ukraine continues, let me both reassure and disappoint you: I’m still in Ukraine. 😌

I simply came across a photograph from my pre-Christmas trip to Vietnam last year and decided it deserved a moment of its own.

Why? Because I’ve always appreciated the beauty of minimalism. The kind that leaves you with nothing to hide behind. No luxury, no elaborate settings, no desperate attempts to impress.

True beauty has very little to do with what a person wears. If it comes from within, even the simplest robe cannot conceal it. And if it isn’t there, no amount of diamonds can create it.

Which brings me to the lotus.

For thousands of years, the lotus has been revered across Eastern cultures as a symbol of purity, spiritual awakening, and inner strength.

And what fascinates me most is where it comes from.

The lotus takes root in the mud, rises through murky water, and eventually blossoms above the surface, remarkably pure and beautiful.

To me, this is one of the most profound metaphors for human life.

We tend to believe that happiness and inner peace require perfect circumstances: a beautiful home, financial security, comfort, and a life untouched by hardship.

But is comfort really what shapes us into who we are?

Sometimes, the most beautiful human qualities emerge not where everything is perfect, but where life demands resilience. Where we are forced to struggle, endure, lose, begin again, and somehow still find the strength to remain kind, dignified, and human.

Of course, suffering alone does not make anyone a better person. But we always have a choice: to let our circumstances define us, or, like the lotus, to rise above them.

After all, the lotus is not beautiful because it grew in clean water. It is beautiful because it managed to bloom despite the mud beneath it.

And perhaps, this has never really been just about flowers.

Is this the Future? 🚀

Tesla’s flying Roadster brings a new dimension to the electric supercar conversation, turning the spectacle of performance into something that briefly leaves the ground.

Unveiled at SpaceX’s Texas testing facility, the latest demonstration combined cold gas thrusters with a suction system to produce airborne jumps and rotations. Tesla also claimed acceleration from zero to 60 mph in under one second. These are short aerial manoeuvres, rather than sustained flight. Elon Musk has targeted consumer production for 2028, while pricing, delivery certainty and approval for public roads remain unresolved.

The appeal reaches beyond the stopwatch. For an automotive industry accustomed to measuring progress through horsepower, lap times and increasingly complex aerodynamics, a supercar lifting itself into the air offers an arresting new image of ambition.

It also places the Roadster at an unusual intersection of automotive theatre and aerospace experimentation. Every airborne moment invites the same question: how much of this spectacle can become a practical ownership experience?

For enthusiasts and collectors, that tension is part of the fascination. The Roadster presents a future where a performance car’s repertoire might extend beyond the limits of the road, with the journey from demonstration to deliverable machine becoming its most compelling story yet.

After Shane Gillis mocked women's gym shorts, college decathlete @chase.lath knew the best response: His shorter shorts.

The sophomore at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette posted a reel on Instagram this week poking fun at Gillis’ dumb joke wearing, yes, short shorts. He made a great point.

“Hey Shane, I wear shorter shorts than every girl I know, so what does that make me?” Lathrop asked on Instagram as he pole vaulted and hurdled in the video.
