Typography and calligraphy found me as a kid.
I used to buy scholastic books on calligraphy, drawing and typography, toy making and what not. Searched hard for calligraphy pens in stationery shops because of it being a niche product.
The way letters could carry weight, texture, emotion before you even read a word.
@metallica found me in 2001. I was 11 years old.
Through an mp3 collection CD from Nehru Place market in Delhi that had music by legends like Alanis Morissette, Backstreet Boys, Nsync, Bryan Adams and of course some music from The Matrix.
There was absolutely no other way to access that music. You are dependent on radio and TV that will play random music and you have to be lucky to find your favourites.
And audio cassettes weren't available for international music because of their low demand.
Dial-up internet. No YouTube. No music streaming services.
Just that mp3 disc playing on repeat often until I understood what different genres of music actually meant. I didn't even know what mp3 file format actually meant.
This is what happens when two decades of that love collide inside After Effects.
No code.
No artificial intelligence.
Just time, type, and few explosively powerful people made entirely of alphabets. #metallica #motiondesign #cgi #musiclover #musicvideo
