Fundamentally, women donât sexualize themselves because sexualization doesnât benefit women. Sexualization only becomes advantageous when it is socially tied to an oppressed role in intimate relationships, where things like resources or status are attached. So without men, women wouldnât be sexualized. But because men sexualize women, some women may voluntarily welcome sexualization - but that is no longer âself-sexualizationâ, but rather a survival mechanism: adapting to a system that works against you. Whatâs also interesting is that even this survival mechanism doesnât really provide much power, because sexualization is, first and foremost, objectification, and objectification is a form of dehumanization that leads to being used like an object. And when your role is to be used, you apriori have no and canât get no power. Men would understand this very well if they were critical of capitalism and recognized the parallels between the oppression of the working class by elites and the oppression of women by men. But apparently not everyone is blessed with pattern recognition system

100%. You WILL be sexualised anyway. You donât need to try or even to want it to be sexualised. No matter what you do, how you look, what youâre wearing, or how old you are. And thatâs not changing any soon, but weâll fight. And speaking up is a great start!!
